The exhibition “Concepts in Clay” will demonstrate the development and fulfillment of an idea in clay by individual potters, who are members of Cape Cod Potters. The deadline for entry is May 24. More details are here.

Deadline: July 20, 12. The Oakland Community College Womencenter sponsors From Our Perspectives: A National Women’s Art Exhibition. This exhibition commits to giving women artists a forum in which to share their creative inquiries into the material, personal, global, political, and cultural landscapes surrounding us. The exhibition occurs September 27 – October 26, 2012 at the Smith Theatre Gallery, Oakland Community College, Farmington Hills, MI. Open to all women artists nationwide. FISH: 2012 Art Exhibition Competition – OK
Deadline: September 1, 12. The University of Oklahoma School of Art & Art History invites entries from artists who focus on themes that relate to the culture of fishing. A broad range of interpretations are welcome such as fishing as an economic lifestyle, work & gender issues, conservation & politics, environmental habitats & sustainability, food quality & safety, fishing for subsistence, fisheries collapse, & community education. Selected works will be exhibited in the Lightwell Gallery at the University of Oklahoma School of Art & Art History from October 27 through November 7, 2012. Going for the Gold: Honoring Sport – CO
Deadline: July 2, 12. In honor of the 2012 Summer Olympics, Center for the Arts Evergreen presents Going for the Gold: Honoring Sport, an exhibition featuring artwork inspired in some way by sports. Sport and art may seem at odds, but sports have certainly inspired many artists, including Andy Warhol’s take on soccer icon, Pelé, and Robert Mapplethorpe’s photographs of Arnold Schwarzenegger in his body building years. From capturing the figure of an athlete to the equipment used in specific sporting events, we challenge you to get creative with the theme. We invited Scott Robson, Executive Director of Evergreen Parks and Recreation District, to join Becky Guy, Director of Exhibits at CAE, and Steve Sumner, Executive Director of CAE, to jury the exhibition. Artists are welcome to submit up to 3 images for jury, and we will accept artwork in all mediums. Call for Entries: Politicizing Aesthetics: University of South Dakota – SD
Deadline: July 6 2012. The University Art Galleries invites professional artists to submit entries to “Politicizing Aesthetics.” Contemporary artworks in any 2D and 3D media are welcome. We seek works that address current political and social issues, such as debt, war, human rights; works that explore the body politic; and works that examine the relationship between politics and aesthetic form. Artists should submit a CD containing JPEG images for up to 3 works and an artist statement and resume, saved as PDFs. The JPEGs largest dimension should be 1000 pixels, with a resolution of 200 pixels per inch. Entry fee is $30; checks payable to ‘University of South Dakota.’ Entries must be postmarked by Friday, July 6 2012. Notifications August 6. Exhibition opens October 1, 2012. Cash awards up to $750. Freedom call for entries: Linus Galleries – CA
Deadline: July 16, 2012. Freedom means something different for every individual. In this year, especially, freedom can be defined uniquely by countries, politics, beliefs, and points of artistic views. Give us your best freedom art for this future exhibition. All international artists, professional and amateur and all art mediums will be considered from photography, sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. If it can be hung on the walls, we will consider it. Accepted artists will be asked to be a part of a live collective show in the future months. The artists will be asked if they wish to submit their artwork for the show, which is not a requirement to being a part of this online show. Cost: $35 for 3 entries, $5 for additional entries. Annual Juried Exhibition: “Size Matters” – NY
Deadline: June 8, 12. New Rochelle Council on the Arts “SIZE MATTERS” (24” x 24”). All artists within the County of Westchester, NY, at any stage in their artistic careers are encouraged to email submissions of work completed in the 2006–2012 calendar years to the New Rochelle Council on the Arts’ Annual Juried Exhibition. Accepted work will be exhibited at the Rotunda Gallery from July 11–August 31, 2012. All original two- and three-dimensional wall-hung work will be accepted for review as long as they meet all requirements; no free-standing works will be eligible for acceptance. All work submitted must be available for exhibiting; substitutions will not be allowed. The final selection of work to be exhibited in NRCA’s Annual Juried Exhibition 2012 will be chosen by a panel of qualified jurors. The NEW ORLEANS LOVING FESTIVAL is seeking original artwork and films with themes concerning the multiracial experience for a June 9th – 30th group art show at the New Orleans Healing Center.
