Recycled Art
Deadline: September 13, 2013. Northern Virginia community college is seeking submissions of recycled art for an exhibit publicizing sustainability, reducing, & recycling. Submissions may be sculptural (both free-standing or wall hangings) or 2D, but must be composed of a minimum of 75% recycled materials. Entry is open to any Virginia, Maryland, and/or D.C. residents. Bader Fund
Deadline: September 15, 2013. The Franz and Virginia Bader Fund welcomes applications from visual artists aged 40 years or older, who live within 150 miles of Washington, D.C., and can demonstrate that they have the potential to benefit as artists from a grant. William H. Johnson Prize
Deadline: September 23, 2013. The William H. Johnson Foundation for the Arts is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that seeks to encourage African American artists early in their careers by offering financial grants. The Johnson Foundation awards grants to individuals who work in the following media: painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, installation and/or new genre. City of Fairfax
Deadline: October 1, 2013. This special judged art exhibition will tentatively open on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Artists from across Fairfax and Northern Virginia will be invited to share their creative and contemporary efforts, while competing with a variety of honors that will be awarded by the City of Fairfax. All potential artwork submissions must come to the attention of Larry Oskin at [email protected]. You may submit up to three pieces per artist, with low resolution images and the attached application. Oskin and a team of artists will pre-judge and qualify all entries, accepting the best artwork for this show. Ms. Joanna M. Ormesher, City of Fairfax Marketing Director will be responsible make the decision on all final pieces as well as to judge this show for the awards and honors. Virginia artist fellowships
Deadline: November 8, 2013. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is now accepting applications for their Visual Arts Fellowships for 2014-15. For details and to apply, click here.
Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival
Deadline: December 7, 2013. The Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival (May 2014) is produced by the Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) and is a competitive, juried, outdoor event that showcases the best contemporary fine art and craft from around the country. The Festival is held in the streets of Reston Town Center, an upscale, elegant, shopping destination. For more information and to apply, click here.
