Deadline: February 15 Denise Bibro Fine Art is proud to announce our virtual open call #COLLAGEbiennial. This call is open to artists working in collage or media that is 80% collage-based. Residencies, City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts
Deadline: February 28 The Office of the Arts is seeking individual artists or artist groups/organizations for up to two residencies to develop and perform new, site-specific work in response to the new temporary public artwork Groundswell, by commissioned artist Mark Reigelman, installed at Waterfront Park in historic Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The stipend for each residency will range from $6,000 up to $16,000, and applications from artists of all mediums will be considered. Learn more here.
Call for Artists, Hudson Valley Seed Co.
Deadline: March 1 Help tell the story of flower and vegetable seeds by creating original artwork for Hudson Vally Seed Co.’s popular Art Packs. We are always looking for a diversity of mediums including but not limited to watercolor, oil, collage, quilting, carving, assemblage, stained glass, etching, handmade paper, seed mosaic, plant material collage, wood-burning, metalwork, clothing, and functional pottery. NJ Climate Resilience Public Art Projects – NJ
Deadline: March 8 New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts are pleased to present this call for artists as part of the Coastal Risk Communications Campaign. This exciting opportunity is open for submissions from professional artists, over the age of 18, who are current residents of the State of New Jersey, or who live within 100 miles of the New Jersey state border. This project seeks to engage 4 artists, or artist teams, to create original, site-specific artwork and related community engagement(s) that address the theme of climate resilience and coastal flooding, particularly as related to coastal communities in New Jersey. Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council FY21 Grants

Windgate Artist-in-Residence, SUNY Purchase, Purchase, NY
Deadline: February 12 The Windgate Artist in Residence Program (WAIR) in the School of Art+Design at Purchase College invites expressions of interest from contemporary artists and craftspeople working in the field broadly defined as applied design. WAIR is currently accepting applicants for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 sessions. Call for Entry, The Delaware Contemporary Natural Movement”: Unapologetic Conversations of Hair and Nonconformity – Wilmington, DE
Deadline: February 15 We are seeking new works of art of any medium, two or three-dimensional, that celebrate nonconformity of black hair, but empower us to be who we were naturally made to be. What does it look like to embrace our natural identity, specifically our kinky, curly, coily hair without apology? How has nonconformity and hair influenced your work? That celebrates our hair to grow out of our heads naturally without shame or criticism. How has the complexities of our hair shown up in our practice, our work, our dialogue, our narratives? Call for Entries, CREATE Arts Center – Silver Spring, MD
Deadline: February 19 CREATE Arts Center is excited to announce a call for entries for our first-ever Juried All-Media Exhibition, hosted in the Tamar Hendel Gallery. Through Friday, February 19, artists across the region are invited to submit up to three (3) images of original 2-D or 3-D art—including all mediums except video or film—to be considered for inclusion in this two-month show. Artworks will be selected by juror Jeffry Cudlin, Professor of Curatorial Practice at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Artists on the Rise: Ninth Annual Juried Teen Exhibition – Laurel, MD
Deadline: February 21 This opportunity is open to artists 13–18 years of age who are residents of Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia. Call for Artists, Howard County Arts Council ARTsites 2021 – Ellicott City, MD
Deadline: February 26 The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is seeking up to 12 artists to participate in its Ninth Annual Juried Public Art Competition for a temporary outdoor exhibit from August 2021-July 2022. Residency, The Millay Colony for the Arts – Austerlitz, NY
Deadline: March 1 The Millay Colony for the Arts is accepting applications for a 2-week, 1 month residency, for August/September/October 2021. Collectives and/or collaborations of more than 3 individuals are welcome in the first two weeks of December. Calls & Submissions, Merge: Nation’s Best Emerging Young Artists with Disabilities / Calls & Submissions – DC
Deadline: April 28 The VSA (Very Special Arts) Emerging Young Artists Program amplifies the voices of visual artists with disabilities through career development and professional empowerment. The competition seeks excellent work from emerging artists with disabilities, ages 16-25, residing in the United States. Fifteen winning artists are selected by jury. Grand Prize is $20,000, First Prize is $10,000, Second Prize is $6,000, and the remaining Awards of Excellence are $2,000 each. For winning artists, one of the submitted artworks will be selected for a national exhibition. Call for Proposals, 2022 Rehoboth Art League Solo and Group Exhibitions – Rehoboth Beach, DE
Deadline: July 18 The Exhibitions Committee of the Rehoboth Art League is in the process of organizing solo and group exhibitions for 2022. This is a very competitive program as RAL can only accept a limited number of proposals each year. Artworks in any media will be reviewed. The RAL is situated in the town of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, a highly traveled area not only by the residents of this and the expanding surrounding communities, but also by art patrons from the Washington DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and New York metropolitan areas. Over 29,000 people participate in Rehoboth Art League programs annually. Special exhibitions have played an important part of our programming since the league’s beginning, in 1938. Pyramid Atlantic Workshop Proposals – Hyattsville, MD
Pyramid Atlantic offers year-round workshops in printmaking, papermaking, book arts, and hybrids thereof. We offer multi-week, daytime, evening, and weekend intensives for adults in our fully equipped studios. As part of a robust and diverse schedule of offerings, we welcome unsolicited workshop proposals, and hope that you will consider applying! 2020 has been dedicated to the Year of the Woman in Maryland. Do you have an inspiring story about vital contributions of women-identifying people who are artists, arts administrators, or cultural workers? Busboys and Poets is looking for submissions from Maryland and Virginia artists as it expands to new locations in both areas. Submissions can include drawings, painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, assemblage, fiber, quilts, etc. Art images reflecting life in the city, family, portraits, whimsy, abstraction, social uplift and life experiences within diverse cultures are encouraged for submission.
