The 2023 Student/Faculty Show is now on view.

The exhibit is back in person this year and features 263 works in a variety of mediums including painting, printmaking, ceramics, metalsmithing, and jewelry making. Don’t miss our youth art exhibit, featuring the works of young student artists, on view on the second-floor corridor. The Student/Faculty Show is on view through Sunday, March 5. Join us that day for a closing reception from 2 – 4 pm.

Soundwaves

Courtesy of The Phillips Collection.

Soundwaves, at the Phillips Collection, features Linling Lu’s signature works of abstract paintings with concentric rings of bright, pulsating colors. The circular canvases (tondos), are equally hypnotic and sonic, inspiring contemplation and introspection. Lu’s paintings visualize the sound of Philip Glass’s “Etude no. 16” into soundwaves. It is on view through April 30; 1600 21st Street NW, Washington, D.C.

Good Medicine: A Collection of Healing Forces

Good Medicine: A Collection of Healing Forces, at the Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery, shares American Indian art that speaks to the indigenous forms of health and healing. Drawing on the forms of medicine, the Native artists featured in this exhibit share their beliefs and representation of health, healing, and good medicine. The allegory in each piece represents living traditions among indigenous people that transcends generations. It is on view through May 8. Join the gallery for an opening reception Saturday, February 25, 6 – 9 pm. The Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery is located at Smith Center for Healing and the Arts, 1632 U Street NW, Washington, D.C.
