April 2024 Open Exhibit
Diverse artworks by member artists are the feature of Open Exhibits at The Art League. This month, 99 artworks—painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, fiber art, ceramics, and mixed media—are on view. The April 2024 Open Exhibit was juried by Margaret Winslow, Head Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Delaware Art Museum, and is on view in The Art League Gallery through May 5.
And Sew It Goes by Susan Lapham
In her solo exhibit, And Sew it Goes, Susan J. Lapham displays a collection of large-scale sewn collages, playfully constructed from dozens of small bits of fabric. Inspired by eclectic architecture, complex machinery, and outlandish arrangements, her work pushes the limits of balance, proportion, and symmetry to evoke delight, humor and joy within its viewers. And Sew It Goes is on veiw in The Art League Gallery through May 5.
Michael Brehl: Jewelry, Metal, Hollowware

Join him for the opening reception Saturday, May 4, at 6 pm, and open viewing Sunday, May 5, from noon to 6 p.m. The exhibit can be seen by appointment May 6—29; 119 S St Asaph St, Alexandria, Virginia.
VisArts’ 12th Annual Rockville Arts Festival
Shop and stroll VisArt’s vibrant outdoor festival and artisan market featuring original art by 130 fine artists, artisanal goods, a fun community art project, ceramics wheel and paper craft demonstrations, food trucks, craft beer, and wine – plus our second annual chalk art competition! It takes place Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. at Rockville Town Square, 36 Maryland Ave, Rockville, Maryland.
The Art of Tea
Step into a world where art intersects with tea. Through The Art of Tea exhibit at Del Ray Artisans gallery, artists explore the culture of tea, a drink that dates back thousands of years to China’s Shang Dynasty. Channeling their inner Zhou Fang, Matisse, Cassatt, and van Rijsselberghe, artists depict themes and stories surrounding this aromatic beverage. From tea cups and tea pots to the Mad Hatter or Boston Tea Party, this exhibit intrigues and delights, like an herbal infusion on a sunny morning. It is on view through June 2; 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia.
Enjoy the weekend!
