20th Biennial Ikebana Exhibit
The Art League is delighted to again welcome the Washington, D.C. branch of The Sogetsu School for our 20th Biennial Ikebana Show. Ikebana is a Japanese artform of sculptural flower arranging that highlights the coalescence of flora and vessels. Here, art dances with nature. The Ikebana Exhibit is on view in The Art League Gallery through May 12.
Cape Cod Waters: Photographs by Meg Clarke
Since glaciers formed the outer reaches of Cape Cod tens of thousands of years ago, water has continued to shape and define this narrow land. In this unique place, light, shapes, colors, and patterns shift constantly with the tidal cycle, the time of day, the season, and the weather. Each photograph in Meg Clarke’s Cape Cod Waters captures a moment composed of those waters and the surrounding landscapes, expressing her vision. It is on view through June 9.
Louder Than Hearts: Women Photographers from From the Arab World and Iran
Tulpa by DC Cosplay Photo Shoots
In Tulpa, at Workhouse Art Center, the costume artists and photographers from DC Cosplay Photo Shoots bring fictional characters and creatures of the imagination to life in their collaborative works. Their costume artists transform the imaginary into real life, and their photographers display these living characters into dynamic, immersive worlds through their lenses. When both worlds collide, stunning visual narratives are created through the collaboration of two seemingly different art forms. This exhibition showcases the work of featured artists in the DC Cosplay Photo Shoots community from 2021-present. Tulpa is on view through June 1; 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton, Virginia.
Together We Rise: United
Gallery Underground and Arlington Artists Alliance present Together We Rise: United, a group show featuring military veteran and family member artists from nonprofit group Uniting US. It celebrates the benefits of individual choice, freedom of speech, and the right to vote with a universal allegiance to our nation. Upholding the nation’s freedoms and ideals, we rise together, gaining wellness and strength through unity and through art. Together We Rise is on view through May 31; The Shops at 2100 Crystal Drive (2120-A Crystal Plaza Arcade), Arlington, Virginia.
Enjoy the weekend!
