At this annual favorite, you’ll find a delightful array of ceramic, glass, wood, and metal wares, expertly crafted for both function and aesthetic appeal. Tabletop 2024 features 28 artworks, and was juried by potter and educator Naomi Clement.

Why Be Real? by Linda Bankerd

Collage #3 by Linda Bankerd; Mixed media

Linda Bankerd, our featured solo artist for August, passionately uses elements like shape, color, form, line, collage, and gestural marks in her artwork. Her creations thrive in their own existence, requiring no tangible reference or desire. This authentic approach to artistry makes her work truly unique and engaging.

Join us for our August Reception and Artist Talk with Linda Bankerd on Friday, August 23, from 6:30–8 pm.

Gallery 75: July – August

Sailing at Sunset by Sheila Flanders; Oil

Come and explore Gallery 75, our vibrant art hub nestled right here in our main gallery. It’s a treasure trove where you can find a range of affordable, extraordinary artwork created by our talented local member artists. Whether in the market for framed, unframed, or even three-dimensional pieces, you’ll find a wealth of pieces waiting for you to take home and display.

Fleeting Moments Street Photography II

RUSH HOUR by Vincent Ricardel; Black and white photograph

Art League members Ron Colbroth, Daniel Horowitz, Suzanne McIntire, and Jo Ann Tooley are among the photographers whose work can be seen in Fleeting Moments Street Photography II at the Athenaeum Gallery. Back by popular demand, this show features photographs that capture candid moments, revelatory interpretations, and brilliant reflections of the mundane—work commonly referred to as “street photography.” It is on view through September 22, with an artist reception on Sunday, August 18, from 4–6 p.m.

The Marvels of Trees

Nature’s Symphony (triptych) by Ronni Jolles

The Marvels of Trees, a group exhibition at Zenith Gallery, not only takes the tree as a starting point, but also exploits arboreal remains like bark, twigs, driftwood, lumber, or tree pulp as the medium. Subjects vary widely. A path through the woods evokes the stark enchantment of Rock Creek Park. Contrasting veneers suggest the shape of trees. A heron haunts the swampy sphere of cattail and deadfall. Steps lead upward to nature’s cathedral door. In addition, there is figurative work carved in wood and a painting of an elm in front of the iconic Smithsonian Castle. Featured artists include Anne Bouie, Jackie Braitman, Margery Goldberg, Ronni Jolles, George Lorio, Carol Newmyer, Larry Ringgold, Lynda Smith-Bugge, Bradley Stevens, and Robert Weston. The Marvels of Trees is on view through September 14; 1429 Iris Street, NW, Washington, D.C.

14 VISIONS

Weathered Hands by David Myers

Multiple Exposures Gallery presents 14 VISIONS, juried by Allison Nance, managing director of The Nicholson Project.  This fine art photography exhibition presents a rich mosaic of styles, subjects and stories, with each photograph reflecting the distinctive voice and technique of the photographer who made it. 14 VISIONS is on view through August 25; Torpedo Factory Art Center #312, 105 N. Union Street,  Alexandria, Virginia.

Enjoy the weekend!
