Susana Romero

Susana Romero is an accomplished yarn artist who learned how to sew and embroider at an early age in her home country, Peru. She later added a special craft which originated in Ayacucho, a city in the Andean mountains, and which is characterized by its colorful floral designs embroidered in wool. She enjoys teaching this relaxing skill to beginners, as well as more advanced students, making this art approachable for people at all skill levels. Through her teachings in the Washington area, she has found that her one-on-one technique makes all students comfortable through the learning process and stimulates the creativity of each participant of her classes. Besides private tutoring, Susana has taught at the Smithsonian Institute’s Special Arts Program.
