About Us
As a non-profit 501(c)(3), The Art League Gallery provides opportunities for local artists to have their work juried by visual arts professionals from area museums, galleries and universities. Many other programs are available for members as well, including an art library, critiques, demonstrations and lectures. There are no requirements to become a member, just the willingness to participate in an active and lively artistic community.
The Art League Gallery is a membership gallery located on the first floor of the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Old Town Alexandria. With nearly 2,000 square feet of exhibit space and over 1,000 members; visitors are guaranteed a chance to see the best visual art in the mid-Atlantic region.
Every member is eligible to enter the monthly-juried exhibits. Artwork selected by the juror is installed in a formal gallery setting. Exhibits are highly competitive, with an average of 600 submissions per month and approximately 130 pieces accepted. The juror determines prizes. The piece selected as Best in Show is awarded a cash prize, and there are several honorable mention awards. To download monthly entry labels click here. The Bin Gallery offers artists a chance to display and sell their work every month in the gallery. Member artists are eligible to become a member of the Bin Gallery once they have been juried into a minimum of three membership shows during the year (July 1 – June 30).
Opening Receptions
Opening receptions occur each month on Second Thursday. Awards are presented at 7:30 pm. Everyone is invited to come and view the new exhibit, meet colleagues, and view the solo artist exhibition.
Solo Artist Exhibits
The Art League seeks artists who have a strong, cohesive, and exciting body of work for our elite solo artist exhibitions. Our aim, whether exhibiting experimental or traditional works, is to adhere to the highest standards of quality.
