Women: an Exhibition – MD
Deadline: January 31, 2012. What makes women awesome? Who are the amazing women you know? How have they impacted your life and work? What effect have they had on the world? This exhibition invites artists and designers of all genders to create work that celebrates the incredible women they have known, loved and been influenced by. It is a chance to recognize and pay homage to all that the women in our lives have contributed to us. By showcasing the work of female artists and designers, exhibiting work about women’s roles in industry and projects about women known personally (colleagues, family, friends, mentors, role models, etc.) this show will celebrate all the facets and roles of women in our lives. Washington Calligraphers Guild: The Graceful Envelope Contest – DC
Deadline: Monday, April 30, 2012. Calligraphers and artists from around the world are invited to participate in the 18th annual Graceful Envelope Contest, conducted by the Washington (DC) Calligraphers Guild under the sponsorship of the National Association of Letter Carriers. The contest is open to all ages, with two separate categories for children. There is no entry fee. This year’s theme: “D-liver D-letter D-sooner D-better.” That familiar message has been taken to heart by letter carriers, who D-liver billions of pieces of mail each year. Your challenge is to D-sign a Graceful Envelope around something that begins with D. You could choose Daisies or Dragons, Dentistry or Dancing, Dreaming or Discoveries — any “D” word your heart D-sires — and address it artistically to: The Graceful Envelope Contest, Washington Calligraphers Guild, P.O. Expressions West 2012 – OR

Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, Oregon announces a call to artists for a juried painting exhibition, April 27 – June 30, 2012. $1000 1st Award, $750 2nd Award, $250 3rd Award, and 4 honorable mention ribbons. Juror: Douglas Russell, Director Fairbanks Gallery, Oregon State University. Oso Bay North American Printmaking Exhibition – TX
Deadline: February 1, 2012.  The Department of Art and University Galleries at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi are pleased to announce the inaugural Oso Bay North American Printmaking Exhibition, a competitive juried competition held in conjunction with the 2012 Oso Bay Biennial. This month-long festival has proudly served fine art and culture to the South Texas Region for over 30 years. This year’s events focus on the expansive realm of Printmaking. Jurors: Bill Fick and Tom Huck. Awards: Merit, Purchase and Materials Awards totaling over $2500 will be announced by the jurors during the closing reception on Thursday, April 26th 2012. A Materials Award from generous sponsors will be given in each category: Lithography, Intaglio, Relief and Screenprint. Fantastic Fibers 2012 – KY
Deadline: February 4, 2012. Fantastic Fibers 2012 is an international juried exhibition that seeks to showcase a wide range of outstanding works related to the fiber medium at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, KY. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and over working in the field of fiber art. Contemporary and innovative works created with fiber as the primary medium are welcome. This year’s juror, Luanne Rimel, is an artist, curator, and currently the Director of Education Programs at Craft Alliance Art Center in St. Louis, MO. Rimel will award a minimum of $1,750 in cash prizes for this year’s exhibition. Digital submissions only. Glass: A Juried Art Show – IN
Deadline: February 24, 2012. Minnetrista in Muncie, IN announces a call to artists for a juried glass exhibition, May 12 – August 12, 2012. Up to $10,000 in purchase awards. Juror: Katherine Gray. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older. All entries must contain glass or be glass-related. Artists may enter a maximum of three works. Entries must be original works, which have been completed within the past two years and not accepted previously for any juried exhibition at Minnetrista. 112th Anniversary International Exhibition of Works on Paper – PA
Deadline: June 8, 2012. The Philadelphia Water Color Society announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, October 5 – November 17, 2012, at the Wayne Art Center in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Free framing/matting, Juror’s Choice, Peoples Choice. Juror: Nikos Economopoulos. Spontaneity is the hallmark for great documentary and street photography where the moments of life, often ironic, poignant, emotionally charged, tragic or absurd are frozen. Many of the scenes captured by practitioners of this art, with the possible exception of war and extreme sports documentary, pass before us every day, but we do not see. Residencies: Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts  – WY

Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts offers creative residencies for visual and performing artists, writers, musicians and composers of all levels, backgrounds, media and genre. Award winners receive exclusive studio use, individual room with private bath and all meals. Residents must supply all related materials for making work and transportation to ranch or airport. Swann Foundation Fellowship in Caricature and Cartoon – DC
Deadline: February 15, 2012. The Swann Foundation for Caricature and Cartoon administered by the Library of Congress seeks to award one fellowship annually (with a stipend of up to $15,000) to assist the fellow in his/her ongoing scholarly research and writing projects in the field of caricature and cartoon. Although research must be in the field of caricature and cartoon, there is no limitation regarding the place or time period covered. In lieu of one fellowship, the board has made smaller awards to several recipients in recent years due to the number, nature, and quality of fellowship applications. Deadline: February 1, 2012. ART342 is now accepting artist-in-residence applications for 14 week and 6 week residencies in 2012. ART342 offers 14-week and 6-week residencies to emerging and established artists, writers and composers. Studios, a kiln and basic equipment are available for most visual artists, including ceramicists. Quiet spaces exist for creative or scholarly writers. The composer’s studio is outfitted with a Steinway B, computers and software for writing and recording. Awards for accepted applicants include 24-hour access to free studios, living space and a modest stipend. Anne L. Poulet Curatorial Fellowship 2012-2014 – NY
Deadline: January 20, 2012. The Frick Collection is pleased to announce the availability of a two-year predoctoral fellowship for an outstanding doctoral candidate who wishes to pursue a curatorial career in an art museum. The fellowship will offer invaluable curatorial training and will provide the scholarly and financial resources required for completing the doctoral dissertation. 2012 Call for Hot Metal Artists: Hot Metal Workshop and Residency program – MN
Deadline: April 16, 2012. Franconia has hosted an annual Hot Metal Pour since 1996, many of which included international exchanges. The focus of the Hot Metal Workshop and Residency program is conceptual realization and collaboration. This workshop and residency is a community collaboration project where the public is invited to participate in educational relief sculpture workshops to make their own open face sand molds. 12 artists and 3 interns will be accepted for this year’s residency, which begins with a two-week bonded sand mold-making workshop and culminates in the 16th Annual Community Collaboration Hot Metal Pour on August 4, 2012. Artist in Residence: The Wassaic Project – NY
Deadline: February 7, 2012. Calling all artists, writers and musicians for or 2012 Summer Residency Program. Our summer session runs from May 2nd-Oct.31, 2012. We are now accepting proposals for one – six month residencies. Artists will receive an adaptable raw studio space in the historic livestock barn. All studios are roughly 300 square feet. Artists will have 24 hour access to their studio and accommodations which include a private bedroom, shared living room / study, dining room, kitchen, and bath. Artists also have access to workshop facilities as well as the potential for expansion of workshop space and the possibility of working outside. The residency’s workshop facilities include a wood and metal shop, a large format inkjet print room, and a silkscreen studio.
