Abstract Mixed-Media: Memory, Materiality and Process

Explore working in an open, intuitive way, led by impulse, imagination and memory. Use abstraction, life studies, collage elements, and mixed media, to create meaning in their paintings. Approach mixed-media painting through world-building with a visceral and fresh take on the medium. The class explores new possibilities together and aims to create works of art that transcend convention and create surprise. Students are guided in developing their own visual language.

Supplies are required for this course. As a service to our students, most supply lists are kept on hand in the Art League Supply Store. The existence of this store gives students the opportunity to obtain supplies in advance and come to class prepared to work. The Art League Supply Store is in studio 217 at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, just around the corner from the Art League School Registration Office.

They are open 7 days a week for your convenience. Due to our large enrollment, we are unable to mail or read supply lists over the phone.
