Introductions to Gouache Painting

Enter the vibrant world of gouache painting. Gouache is a versatile, matte and opaque medium that combines the best qualities of watercolor and acrylic. In this class, students will deepen their understanding of the fundamental principles and techniques of painting while developing a more personal and confident approach to the medium. Through demonstrations and individual feedback, students will work from still life and portrait subjects to strengthen both technical skills and artistic sensitivity.

This is an all-level painting class open to students with some prior drawing experience; painting experience is helpful but not required. Model fees are extra.

Supplies are required for this course. As a service to our students, most supply lists are kept on hand in the Art League Supply Store. The existence of this store gives students the opportunity to obtain supplies in advance and come to class prepared to work. The Art League Supply Store is in studio 217 at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, just around the corner from the Art League School Registration Office.

They are open 7 days a week for your convenience. Due to our large enrollment, we are unable to mail, fax, or read supply lists over the phone. It is the responsibility of the student to acquire their own materials.

Hours: Sunday through Thursday from 11:00am to 5:00pm
Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm
