Cape Cod Waters: Photographs by Meg Clarke

Since glaciers formed the outer reaches of Cape Cod tens of thousands of years ago, water has continued to shape and define this narrow land. In this unique place, light, shapes, colors, and patterns shift constantly with the tidal cycle, the time of day, the season, and the weather.
In Cape Cod Waters, photographer Meg Clarke captures a moment composed of those waters and the surrounding landscapes, expressing her vision.

Inner Gardens Solo Show Artist Talk with Abol Bahadori
Join Art League member Abol Bahadori for an artist talk about Inner Gardens, his solo exhibit at McLean Project for the Arts, Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m. “Inner Gardens is a collection of my latest paintings that delve into the depths of the human psyche, exploring the intricate landscapes of our inner worlds,” saya Bahadori. Fellow Spring Solosartists Osvaldo Mesa and Laura Grothaus will also be o hand to discuss their exhibits Toys in the Hands of History: Paintings by Osvaldo Mesa and Return to the Library of L.E. Doleful Whimsy by Patrick Sargent

Printmakers Inc. is proud to present Patrick Sargent’s solo exhibition titled Doleful Whimsy. In his printmaking exhibition, Patrick explores ‘doleful whimsy’—where sadness meets playfulness on paper. Through relief prints, cyanotypes, and silkscreens, he captures the delicate balance between melancholy and light-heartedness. Each print invites viewers into a world where tears and laughter coexist, celebrating the beauty found within the complexity of human emotion. Space Between: Paintings by Anne Marchand
Winding Triptych and Deep Space
Painter Anne Marchand’s Space Between, at Zenith Gallery, delves into the complexities of the human condition, exploring the unseen realms that shape our existence. This exhibition utilizes the power of art to illuminate the spaces between myth and reality, consciousness and subconscious, and intuition and logic. The artworks presented here act as portals, inviting viewers to navigate the intangible spaces that define our experiences. Deadline: July 12 The DC Arts Center (DCAC) is excited to announce WallMountables 2024 from July 12, 2024 to August 11, 2024 in its newly renovated gallery. During WallMountables, DCAC divides its gallery walls into 2’ x 2’ squares, creating a floor-to-ceiling grid on which artists hang their work. Anyone can purchase as many 2’ x 2’ squares on our gallery wall to display their artwork. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine
Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. The money is pooled from ten or more self-organizing “micro-trustees.” The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. Coroto: Masks of Power | David Camero
David Camero, “Cecilia Mask,” 30” x 27”
Artist David Camero’s pieces are masks that draw inspiration from the cultural celebrations during Corpus Christi in the Venezuelan town of Yare. Camero’s work breathes life into symbolic representations of power, in reference with the current socio-political landscape of South America. The artist intertwines elements of ritual and satire, utilizing masks as a medium to commentate on the turbulent political climate. Jonathan Edge: Polaroid — Painted
Jonathan Ege After Mucha, oil on linen, 30”x 40”, 2024
In his exhibit Polaroid—Painted, at Willow Street Gallery, artist Jonathan Ege juxtaposes the instantaneous and impermanent against the durational and enduring in this playful exhibit of portraits on canvas, presented in the guise of a polaroid snapshot. Inspired by deep feelings of nostalgia for old photographs of friends and family, Ege approaches his richly-colored imaginative paintings with a sense of the momentary, the impression his subject gives him in an instant. Solace and Sisterhood, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, brings together the work of three artists of African descent who are friends and “sisters”: Lavett Ballard, Amber Robles-Gordon, and Evita Tezeno. Through their artwork, viewers are given an intimate look into their experiences and their sisterhood, which has developed over several years. By digging deeply into historical and contemporary perspectives on African American life, exploring traditions in the African diasporic community, or remixing commonly known objects, these artists span media and aesthetics. They tackle topics of self-identity, Black female beauty, and spiritual discovery. They resist single affiliations and simple answers to difficult questions. Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. In Tulpa, at Workhouse Art Center, the costume artists and photographers from DC Cosplay Photo Shoots bring fictional characters and creatures of the imagination to life in their collaborative works. Their costume artists transform the imaginary into real life, and their photographers display these living characters into dynamic, immersive worlds through their lenses. When both worlds collide, stunning visual narratives are created through the collaboration of two seemingly different art forms. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine
Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine
Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing.
