Call for entry, Wayne Art Center Regional Juried Spring Open — Wayne, PA 

Deadline: February 13   Wayne Art Center’s 2023 Regional Juried Spring Open is an exhibition featuring works in painting, drawing, printmaking, works on paper, photography, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, glass, jewelry, metals, fiber and 3D printing technology.  Artists from PA, NJ, NY, DE, MD, and Washington, DC are eligible to submit up to two original works created between 2021 and 2023. 15th Annual Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival — Wayne, PA 

Deadline: February 23   The 15th Annual Wayne Art Center Plein Air Festival kicks off on May 7, 2023 with the arrival of 32 juried, nationally recognized and emerging artists who have come to Wayne, Pennsylvania to capture the cool atmosphere and ephemeral, lush greens of spring in the Delaware Valley. As one of the premier plein air events in the country, Wayne offers the unique opportunity to showcase work created during the festival in spacious, light-filled and state-of-the-art galleries during an exhibition that hangs until June 24, 2023. Call to artists, 13th Annual March 150 at Target Gallery — Alexandria, VA 

Deadline: February 24    March 150, Torpedo Factory Art Center’s 13th annual special exhibition and art sale returns to Target Gallery with all proceeds going to support new exhibitions and programs. Enjoy a wide variety of art from local artists who donated the work on the gallery provided 10×10 panels. The size and price make the works ideal for collecting. Artists of all backgrounds are welcome to participate. You may come in-person to Target Gallery to purchase a blank panel or call 703-746-4590 to purchase over the phone. Call for Entry, Works on Paper 2023 — Loveladies, NJ 

Deadline: March 31    Works on Paper 2023 is the 25th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Works on Paper can include but is not limited to Drawing, Painting on Paper, hand pulled Prints, Photographic Prints, Digital Works on Paper, and Paper constructions that can be wall hung. Call for Entry, Athenaeum Solo or Group Show: 2022-2023 — Alexandria, VA 

Deadline: August 25   Artists who live or work in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia may submit a proposal for a solo show.  A group of artists who live or work in the area may submit a proposal for a group show.  A curator, living or working anywhere, may submit a proposal for a show featuring works by artists living or working in this area. Foundation Arts Festival 2023 — Loveladies, NJ 

Deadline: July 8   The Foundation Art Festival (FAF 2023) is a juried Makers retail show, curated by our Arts & Exhibition Committee. We are looking for artists who create handmade, original work. Seasoned or new artisans that create unique, high quality handmade products are encouraged to apply. Call for Entries, 9th Annual Allegheny National Photography Competition & Exhibition — Cumberland, MD

Deadline: February 10    This 9th Annual Allegheny National Photography Competition & Exhibition (ANPCE), sponsored by the Allegheny Arts Council, will meld the region’s rich concentration of photographic artists with an influx of national photographers in a juried competition offering $6,500 in cash prizes. Persistence V: d’Art’s Last Annual Juried National All Women’s Exhibition — Norfolk, VA

Deadline: February 12    Persistence has been an annual exhibition since 2019 at The d’Art Center that features work from female artists from across the country to celebrate Women’s History Month! This will be our 5th and final year for the Persistence Exhibition. This exhibition is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums. Artist Residency, Nawat Fes — Fez, Morocco 

Deadline: February 15   Nawat Fes offers funded residencies in the eighth-century medina of Fes, Morocco to U.S. and international creators in multiple disciplines. The initiative engages art to cultivate understanding among multifaceted cultures through the exchange of ideas. Hosted by the American Language Center Fes / Arabic Language Institute in Fez, a member of the American Cultural Association, Nawat Fes is a new program that hosted its first residencies in May 2022. Within this unique setting, Nawat Fes provides a supportive environment for research, reflection and artistic practice, allowing artists from around the world to experience and learn from Moroccan culture, and to contribute to the local cultural conversation. Call to Artists, Scaled Down for Spring, Wheaton Arts Parade Gallery — Wheaton, MD

Deadline: February 20    The Wheaton Arts Parade (WAP) Gallery will host “Scaled-Down for Spring” an exhibition of art that is 20″x20″ or smaller. Proposals Wanted, ARTsites Public Art — Ellicott City, MD

Deadline: February 23   We are currently seeking proposals from artists and sites for ARTsites 2023, a one-year outdoor sculpture exhibit on display from August 2023 to July 2024. Selected artists will be awarded a $3,000 grant to participate in the exhibit. For more information, click here.

Deadline: February 28, 2023   Maryland State Arts Council is now accepting applications for a special cycle of the Folklife Apprenticeship made available through Arts Relief funding. Folklife Apprenticeships are $5,000 each and support traditional arts education through the teaching of skills from a master artist to an apprentice artist. Applicants who are eligible for Folklife Apprenticeships are traditional artists who have resided in Maryland for at least six months. Deadline: February 28    The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District invites local artists to submit work to the 19th annual Bethesda Painting Awards. This juried art competition awards $14,000 in prizes to four selected winners. For more information, click here.

Call for Entry, Montpelier Arts Center Library Gallery Competition 2023 — Laurel, MD

Deadline: March 12    Montpelier Arts Center is holding a competition for exhibitions that will be held in the Library Gallery, September 2023 – July 2024.  To be eligible, artists must be 18 years and older and reside in Maryland.  Previous winners from 2018 to the present are ineligible. Southern Watercolor Society Annual Juried Exhibition 2023 — Panama City, FL

Deadline: March 15   Artists participating in the juried competition must be 2023 members of the Southern Watercolor Society and reside in the District of Columbia or one of the following southern states: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or West Virginia. Call for Entry, Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community Juried Art Exhibition 2023 — Harrisonburg, VA

Deadline: March 17    The Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC) hosts an annual Juried Art Exhibition with a history dating back to 2004. Deadline: April 7    The Denbo Fellowship is designed to offer artists, from a range of artistic disciplines, an environment conducive to individual and collaborative creative practice. Instructors Wanted at The Art League — Alexandria, VA

Deadline: Until filled   The Art League is looking for skilled instructors in all visual arts disciplines. We’re particularly keen to recruit new hires for our sculpture, stained glass, and watercolor departments. Preferred applicants will have a personable and patient disposition, excellent communication skills, and the ability to teach their medium to groups of beginning, intermediate, and/or advanced level students. Class sizes range, depending on enrollment, from around 5 to 30 students. Experience teaching is helpful but not an absolute requirement. Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) is featuring county artists at its newest art space Arts’tination at National Harbor, the premier arts and entertainment destination in our regions Located at 162 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, MD. Pyramid Atlantic offers year-round workshops in printmaking, papermaking, book arts, and hybrids thereof. Accepting Artwork for Curatorial Review by AIWA

The Alper Initiative for Washington Art features five exhibitions per year in the newly constructed first floor space in the American University Museum. We accept submissions, on a rolling basis,  from Washington artists of all ages and backgrounds, and working in diverse media. Call For Entry Hamilton Arts Collective Guest Artist Exhibition – Baltimore, MD

The Hamilton Arts Collective (HAC) and the Hamilton Gallery seek applications from artists for month-long Guest Artist exhibitions at Hamilton Gallery located at 5502 Harford Road, Baltimore, MD. The selected guest artists will be invited to exhibit a selection of their current work in Gallery I of the Hamilton Gallery. The Guest Artist exhibition is featured in Hamilton Gallery communications and will be promoted by the HAC and Hamilton Gallery. Howard County Arts Council Quarterly Call For Artists – Ellicott City, MD

The Howard County Arts Council gallery program was established to enhance the public’s appreciation of the visual arts, provide a venue to exhibit the work of local, regional, and national artists in a professional space, and provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of arts in all media from both emerging and established artists. Artists, ages 18 and older, working in all media and styles including time-based and installation artists, are encouraged to apply either individually or as a group. The Creativity Grant Program State of Maryland (MD)

Deadline: Rolling. The purpose of the Creativity Grant Program is to strengthen the vitality and sustainability of artists and small organizations to maintain a strong and stable arts infrastructure in the State of Maryland. The Creativity Grant also provides opportunities to serve the growing needs of relevant arts projects and collaborations within Maryland communities. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

Deadline: Open. The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. The money is pooled from ten or more self-organizing “micro-trustees.” The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. Peripheral ARTeries – Biennial Contemporary Art Publication

Deadline: Rolling. Peripheral ARTeries is looking for artists to be featured in the new special Biennial Edition of their art publication, that comes to its 10th edition. This opportunity is great for both established and early career artists who need a boost to their artist portfolio. The 10th edition will once again explore and show current trends and tendencies in Contemporary Art: Peripheral ARTeries cultivates a spirit of openness through a unique collaborative and participatory approach.Each artist may submit a maximum of three works or projects made in any technique: painting, drawing, video art, experimental cinema, fine art photography, experimental media, mixed media, installations, public art, performance. Exhibit at Hotel Indigo (VA)

Artists works will displayed in the hotel’s gallery (220 S Union St, Old Town Alexandria) for a six-month period. Two-dimensional, framed works only. Artists will install the work using the hotel’s mounting hardware. Labels will be provided by the hotel. All sales handled by artist, no commission. Deadline: January 31    The Toyota Dream Car USA Art Contestis designed to inspire creativity in youth, ages 4-15, and help them imagine the future of mobility. Nine U.S. art contest winners are selected each year: the top three in three age categories (4-7 years; 8-11 years; and 12-15 years). Open Call, Clay Bash 2023, A Triennial Ceramics Juried Exhibition — Clinton, NJ 

Deadline: February 1    Hunterdon Art Museum invites applications to our first triennial juried exhibition of ceramics. The form and content of your work will be up to you, the artist/maker. We are seeking lively and interesting interpretations of clay as material and idea. Your work may or may not fall within the traditional terms of description as “functional” or “sculptural”. Cultivate La Baldi Residency — Montegiovi, Italy 

Deadline: February 1    Located in the historic village of Montegiovi, Italy, in southern Tuscany, Cultivate’s La Baldi Residency is open to artists, writers, and researchers. The multi-disciplinary, international residency expands Cultivate’s investigative platform centered on land, place, and the commons. Individuals and collaborative teams are free to experiment, develop ideas and projects, rejuvenate, and explore the land and culture of this special area for two-week or one-month stays. Deadline: February 6    The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) today announced the opening of its 2023 Allagash Wilderness Waterway (AWW) Visiting Artist Program application period. The program invites visual artists to the remote wilderness of Maine for two consecutive weeks of solitude. One artist and a guest will receive lodging at the AWW Lock Dam Camp for two weeks of the artist’s choosing during August and an orientation and regular visits from AWW Rangers. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

Deadline: February 28, 2023   Maryland State Arts Council is now accepting applications for a special cycle of the Folklife Apprenticeship made available through Arts Relief funding. Folklife Apprenticeships are $5,000 each and support traditional arts education through the teaching of skills from a master artist to an apprentice artist. Applicants who are eligible for Folklife Apprenticeships are traditional artists who have resided in Maryland for at least six months. The Alper Initiative for Washington Art features five exhibitions per year in the newly constructed first floor space in the American University Museum. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

Accepting Artwork for Curatorial Review by AIWA

The Alper Initiative for Washington Art features five exhibitions per year in the newly constructed first floor space in the American University Museum. We accept submissions, on a rolling basis,  from Washington artists of all ages and backgrounds, and working in diverse media. The Hamilton Arts Collective (HAC) and the Hamilton Gallery seek applications from artists for month-long Guest Artist exhibitions at Hamilton Gallery located at 5502 Harford Road, Baltimore, MD. Howard County Arts Council Quarterly Call For Artists – Ellicott City, MD

The Howard County Arts Council gallery program was established to enhance the public’s appreciation of the visual arts, provide a venue to exhibit the work of local, regional, and national artists in a professional space, and provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of arts in all media from both emerging and established artists. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. The money is pooled from ten or more self-organizing “micro-trustees.” The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. Howard County Arts Council Quarterly Call For Artists – Ellicott City, MD

The Howard County Arts Council gallery program was established to enhance the public’s appreciation of the visual arts, provide a venue to exhibit the work of local, regional, and national artists in a professional space, and provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of arts in all media from both emerging and established artists. Artist/Writers: Cover Art for Academic Medicine

Deadline: Rolling. Submit original works of art inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, an academic medicine experience from any perspective: caregiver, researcher, teacher, learner, or patient (for example, learning how to be a physician or scientist, caring for patients, exploring research questions, making a new discovery, being a research participant, teaching, or being cared for in a teaching hospital). The journal welcomes photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, and other visual media. Images may be cropped or resized to fit into the allotted cover space. Artists must also submit a related Cover Art essay as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the “academic medicine experience.” The related narrative should be 250 to 600 words and is subject to editing. The Awesome Foundation Accepting Applications for Art Projects

The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences is a worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of “awesomeness in the universe.” Established in 2009, the foundation distributes $1,000 grants on a monthly basis to projects and their creators. The money is pooled from ten or more self-organizing “micro-trustees.” The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. Artists works will displayed in the hotel’s gallery (220 S Union St, Old Town Alexandria) for a six-month period. Two-dimensional, framed works only.
